About Us

Marriage

"That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body" (Genesis 2:24)

Christian matrimony is the sacramental sign of that union between Christ and his Church.  According to the teaching of Saint Paul: "This mystery has great significance, but I am applying it to Christ and the Church" (Ephesus 5:32)

Because of the nature of the preparation and planning needed for the Sacrament of Marriage, engaged couples are asked to contact the parish office for an interview 6 months in advance of their proposed wedding date to increase chances for getting their preferred date. Preparation includes participation in a Catholic Engaged Encounter weekend and meetings with a parish priest. Other specific needs may be discussed in the meetings

Couples must contact the priest or deacon in sufficient time to complete the paperwork and attend the marriage preparation course in the parish. The time for the preparation will vary, but plan on at least four to six months before the marriage. This is not intended as a waiting period, but rather one of preparation. The purpose of this requirement is to insure adequate time for a couple to participate in and benefit from the steps of the marriage preparation process. In the event that the preparation reveals problems or obstacles to the marriage, this affords a couple more time to resolve their difficulties through such steps as, for example, counseling and canonical procedures.

Please contact one of the priests or deacons in our parish at 765-6729.
