Confirmation
completes and perfects what Baptism began.
In simple terms, it is the sacrament of growing into a mature
Christian.
"Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who went down and prayed with them, that they might receive the Holy Sprirt, for it had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit." (Acts 8:14-17)
Confirmation Requirements: Confirmation for teenagers is a two-year process in our parish. The earliest a teenager can begin confirmation preparation is as a freshman in high school. Preparation involves attendance at Life Teen nights on Sunday. Regular mass attendance is required for both years plus:
- a) service hours
- b) finding a sponsor and maintaining weekly contact with the sponsor
- c) attending one weekend retreat (required by the diocese)
- d) writing a report about a saint
At the end of the two-year preparation, there will be a quiz and an interview with the priest.
In addition the church will need a record of your baptismal certificate.
