RCIA—Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Begins the first week of September Room #1 at the Fatima Center
For whom is the RCIA intended? The RCIA is intended primarily for unbaptized adults who seek to enter the Church through the three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. These persons are referred to as catechumens. In the United States, the RCIA also includes liturgical rites and provides guidelines for the formation of baptized but uncatechized Catholics who seek to complete their initiation through the sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist. Similar rites and guidelines are also provided for adults baptized in other Christian churches who seek to be received into the full communion of the Catholic Church. In the formation of baptized persons, the Church acknowledges that they are already part of the body of Christ through baptism.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Older Children (RCIC)
|
Older children who have not been baptized or have not received Eucharist may be enrolled in the Children's Catechumenate. Parents participate in this process. Other parish members or families may also be involved in a sponsoring or welcoming role. The specific needs of each individual child will be considered in designing the preparations for that child.
